Colonel Vadym Sukharevsky Appointed as Commander of UAV Systems
Colonel Vadym Sukharevsky has been appointed as the commander of the UAV Systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as announced by the General Staff. Following an order from the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Sukharevsky will now lead this important military branch, taking on the responsibility of developing and implementing unmanned systems.
A Noteworthy Career
Known for his leadership and strategic skills, Colonel Sukharevsky previously served as a deputy to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, playing a key role in the development and use of unmanned systems. He made headlines in April 2014 as the first officer to order fire on Russian militants near Slovyansk, showcasing his bravery and dedication to defending Ukraine.
Prior to his new role, Colonel Sukharevsky commanded the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Yakov Hanzuk, operating in the Kherson region from 2022 to 2024. His leadership style and innovative approaches have earned him recognition both within the military and among the public.
