NASA warns: Earth left unprotected from asteroids

The Planetary Defense Coordination Office Raises Concerns

The Planetary Defense Coordination Office, a division of NASA, has recently released a report highlighting the lack of infrastructure in place to protect Earth from potential asteroid impacts. Through simulations, they have determined that there is a 32% probability of a collision with an asteroid on July 12, 2038.

The potential asteroid could have a diameter ranging from 60 to 800 meters, with a 45% chance of no casualties. However, there is also an 8% probability that over a million people could be affected by such an impact. This has raised concerns within NASA about the response and communication strategies in place for such an event.
