European countries continue to host Ukrainian refugees
European countries hosting Ukrainian refugees for almost two years are gradually adjusting their assistance programs. According to RBC-Ukraine, temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees in Poland will be valid until March 4, 2024. Authorities have not yet decided on extending the status for those fleeing the war until 2025, but changes to legislation could be made in the next two months.
Therefore, Ukrainians currently have access to the same conditions and benefits as in 2023. Refugees are entitled to free accommodation for 120 days under the «40+» program, where the state pays Polish families or hotels 40 zlotys (386 hryvnias) per day for providing accommodation and meals to each Ukrainian refugee. After this period, the state continues to fund accommodation for vulnerable categories of Ukrainians who cannot work and afford housing, including large families, people with disabilities, pensioners, pregnant women, and mothers with infants.
