Czech Foreign Minister comments on new EU and NATO strategy towards Russia

Czech Foreign Minister Calls for Strategic Discussions on Russia

Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky expressed the belief that freezing the conflict with Russia is not an appropriate solution to achieve stability in the region. Instead, he called for serious discussions on the European Union’s and NATO’s strategy regarding the actions of the aggressor country.

Lipavsky emphasized that there is currently no clear strategy regarding Russia either in NATO or the EU, and he considers this a mistake. He believes that such debates should take place, taking into account the possibility of ending the war in Ukraine.

The minister also stressed the importance of respecting the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as the right of the Ukrainian people to participate in decisions regarding the future peace with Russia.

He emphasized that freezing the conflict will not lead to a strong and just peace, but will leave Ukraine in a state of instability. The minister highlighted that the real challenge is Russian imperialism, which is evident in Russia’s actions in various countries, including Crimea, Georgia, and Transnistria.
