According to sources, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine plans to start considering a bill on mobilization tomorrow, with the vote scheduled for Thursday.
Meeting Conclusions
According to RBC-Ukraine, the relevant committee concluded its meeting with a report on the bill with a majority of votes. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Defense Katerina Chernogorenko and two representatives of the General Staff.
According to sources, the most discussed issues were the removal of provisions regarding the release from military service and the rotation of military personnel. Representatives of the EU, the «Fatherland» party, and «Voice» opposed these changes.
Upcoming Consideration
It is expected that the consideration of the bill will begin tomorrow, with the vote possibly taking place on Thursday.
«We do not have the opportunity to demobilize military personnel when Russia is mobilizing hundreds of thousands of people every year. This literally means surrender in the current conditions. The idea was first voiced by Mariana Bezuhla, and it found support. Obviously, the leadership understands that it is currently impossible to do this. The problem is in how it was directed: first, it is planned, and at the last moment — a change of plans. Today, the government only gathered at 13:00 to support the appeal to the Rada regarding the resolution of this issue separately,» noted one source in the Verkhovna Rada.
