Man detained in Lviv after attempting to rob bus driver

On Wednesday, April 10, a man was detained in Lviv after attempting to rob a bus driver. The press service of the Lviv region police reported this.

According to law enforcement officials, the incident happened on April 9 around 13:00 on Zelena Street. A passenger on the Lviv — Novyi Rozdil route tried to steal cash from the driver, threatening him.

The driver resisted the attacker, but the latter hit him several times on the head and tried to flee. Promptly reacting passengers prevented the robbery by calling the police and helping to detain the criminal.

The detained man, a 20-year-old resident of Lviv, will face charges of robbery in accordance with Ukrainian law. The punishment for the crime he committed carries a sentence of imprisonment from seven to ten years. Pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon determine the preventive measure for the detainee.
