Amur Tiger Returns to Kharkiv Eco Park After Lengthy Evacuation

Amur Tiger Returns to Kharkiv Eco Park

Amur tiger has finally returned to Kharkiv Eco Park after over two years of forced evacuation. This was reported by the press service of «Feldman Eco Park».

New Residents and Recovery Efforts

The tiger has successfully adapted to the new conditions and is currently in good health. In February, a rare Przewalski’s horse returned to the zoo — the only specimen in Ukraine. In the coming weeks, several new residents will arrive at the eco park, including North American cougars and white tigers. A new location is also being prepared for opening — aviaries for birds, where parrots have already settled.

Rebuilding After Destruction

Kharkiv Eco Park suffered serious damage during the shelling of Kharkiv by Russian forces in 2022. Most of the buildings were destroyed, and 6 employees died during the evacuation. The zoo collection lost about 300 animals, which is approximately 20% of the total number. Since the summer of 2023, the eco park has partially resumed its activities. Currently, the construction of an animal hospice for those affected by the war is ongoing, where they will be able to receive medical care and treatment.
