Officials of the State Consumer Protection Service remind residents of Ternopil to be vigilant when making purchases, especially of perishable products, in local stores during power outages. They also urge manufacturers to remove spoiled goods from shelves.
Challenges During Power Outages
Since mid-May, there have been emergency power outages in all regions of Ukraine due to a shortage of electricity. For food producers and retail chains, this is an extraordinary situation as it leads to interruptions in refrigerators and freezers, disrupting the production process and causing products to spoil.
Recommendations for Market Operators and Consumers
The Ternopil District Department of the State Consumer Protection Service recommends that market operators stock up on alternative sources of electricity, strengthen control over the storage of chilled and frozen products, ensure hygienic conditions at enterprises, and review procedures for removing non-compliant products.
Experts also advise consumers to be more careful when choosing products, check storage conditions and quality of goods before purchasing, especially meat, fish, and dairy products.
