USAID Supports Ukrainian Railways with New Wagon Jacks

The USAID project «Economic Support to Ukraine» enhances rail transportation at Lviv border crossing

The USAID project «Economic Support to Ukraine» has delivered 20 railway jacks to the border crossing point in Lviv region on the border with Poland, which is operated by «Ukrzaliznytsia».

According to CSTS citing USAID, the new jacks will improve the accuracy and efficiency of the process of changing trolleys on railway wagons, leading to an increase in freight traffic between Ukraine and the EU.

Last week, the contractor of the USAID Project, LLC «Trade House Mashservice», installed the first three sets of four jacks each, and two more sets will be installed in early July.

Railway jacks allow for the efficient change of trolleys from wide gauge to European gauge and vice versa, lifting wagons weighing over 100 tons. Earlier this year, similar equipment was installed at the border crossing point with Romania in Chernivtsi region.

This will help strengthen trade relations and economic growth in Ukraine.
