USA and South Korea discuss security and support for Ukraine

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a phone call with South Korean Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong during which they discussed a range of current issues, including the situation on the Korean Peninsula and support for Ukraine.

This was reported by the spokesperson of the US State Department, Matthew Miller.

Blinken condemned the increasing military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, including weapons deliveries that violate UN Security Council resolutions.

The US Secretary of State also expressed gratitude to Minister Chung for South Korea’s support for Ukraine.

The officials agreed to continue working together on the complex security challenges arising from North Korea’s actions, and to support peace and stability in the South China Sea.

It is worth noting that recently the South Korean government announced a review of arms supplies to Ukraine, while the US promised to prioritize providing Patriot missiles and NASAMS.
