Verdict Handed Down in Verkhovyna District Court
On June 26, the Verkhovyna District Court reached a verdict in the case of a local resident who fatally stabbed her roommate during a drinking session in June of last year. According to reports from «Vikna» citing the «Reporter» website, the incident took place on June 16, 2023, in the hamlet of Synitsi in Verkhovyna.
The court heard that during the evening, a verbal altercation between the man and the woman escalated, leading the woman to grab a knife and deliver fatal blows to her roommate’s chest and abdomen. Tragically, the man succumbed to acute heart failure caused by a stab wound to the heart and internal bleeding.
During the trial, the accused admitted partial guilt, explaining that the conflict arose after the man returned home intoxicated from visiting her mother, bringing alcohol with him. The court ultimately found the woman guilty and sentenced her to 7 years in prison, starting from the day of her arrest on June 17, 2023.
