Increase in Cases of Whooping Cough Infection in Poltava Region

Whooping cough cases on the rise in Poltava region

Over the past week, 8 cases of whooping cough have been registered in Poltava region, which is 4 more than the previous week. Whooping cough is an acute bacterial disease that affects the respiratory and nervous systems, especially dangerous for infants.

«To prevent disease outbreaks, it is necessary to ensure collective immunity, especially by vaccinating 95% of children,» said Oleksandr Pertsevyy, an epidemiologist at the regional center for disease control and prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

In Ukraine, routine immunization according to the National Immunization Schedule, which includes protection against 10 dangerous diseases, including whooping cough. Oleksandr Pertsevyy urged parents to assess the child’s health before vaccination to ensure their safety and health.
