A shooting incident took place in Greece, during which unknown attackers opened fire from the territory of Turkey, injuring a Greek border guard. The incident occurred on Saturday around 18:20 local time in the town of Soufli, in the Evros region, as reported by Ukrinform citing Ekathimerini.

Police reported that the shooting occurred while border guards were patrolling to prevent illegal border crossings by migrants from Turkey to Greece. The bullet hit the border guard in the lower abdomen. The injured guard was urgently taken to the hospital, where he received necessary medical assistance. His life is not in danger.

Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
