The press service of the Kyiv City Administration announces additional days off for first graders
The Kyiv City Administration has announced that next week the first graders of Kyiv will be sent on additional days off.
«Additional days off from February 19 to 25 for the capital’s first graders are a recommendation developed for the adaptation of 6-year-old children to school taking into account the academic workload and seasonal illnesses. These recommendations were provided at the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year and distributed among all participants in the educational process,» the city administration’s message states.
According to the explanation, the first year of school for children is a period of adaptation to school, a new collective, and a different rhythm of life, different from kindergarten or family upbringing. «The success of the adaptation period is very important and can affect the further course of the child’s entire school life. Therefore, additional weekly days off are necessary for children to catch their breath and continue their studies with renewed strength,» assure the city administration.
Meanwhile, it is noted that parents who cannot be with their children during the holidays will have the opportunity to bring their kids to school. In the educational institution, first-grade teachers will work with their students in the extended day group mode without additional workload.
