A large-scale study of drinking water quality
A large-scale study of drinking water quality was conducted in the Lviv region, the results of which indicate significant exceedances of standards for total hardness and iron. Experts from the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention analyzed water samples from 7 water pumping stations in the city of Lviv in April.
Findings of the study
According to the study, water samples from six pumping stations in Lviv (Zboiska, Kryvchytsi, Dovha, Vynnyky, Sykhiv, Pivnichna) exceed the norm for total hardness by 1.2-1.3 times, and iron by 1.5 times. Deviations from iron standards were also found on some streets in Lviv and Vynnyky. Exceedances of standards for total hardness by 1.4 times were also recorded in the villages of Shchyrets, Semenivtsi, and Zhydachiv. Similar deviations were found in Peremyshliany and Bibirtsy.
The situation in Velyki Mosty
The situation is particularly critical in Velyki Mosty, where the concentration of iron exceeded the norm by 5.7 times, and deviations from standards for ammonia and the presence of total coliform bacteria were also found. These results indicate the need for further measures to improve the water supply system and water quality control in the region.
