Tragedy on the Road: Child Dies in Car Accident
Yesterday, a tragedy took place at the 198th kilometer of the road «Kipti-Glukhiv-Bachiv». The driver of a VAZ-2110 lost control of the vehicle, leading to it skidding into a ditch and overturning.
Regrettably, as a result of the accident, a 9-month-old child passed away in the hospital. Law enforcement officers have launched a criminal investigation into the incident.
A forensic operational group from police station No. 1 of Shostka district responded to the scene. Preliminary reports indicate that a 26-year-old resident of Krolevets, who was driving the car, lost control and caused the tragedy.
The passengers in the vehicle, a 38-year-old woman and the 9-month-old child, suffered injuries and were taken to the Glukhiv Central District Hospital. Tragically, the child did not survive.
Authorities have opened a criminal case under Art. 286 part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety or operation of vehicles by persons driving vehicles). The investigation is ongoing.
