In Lviv region, a large-scale campaign to vaccinate wild animals against rabies has begun.
Under a specially designed program, edible vaccines will be distributed on the territories of three hunting grounds, mainly targeting foxes. This initiative aims to create a sustainable immunity among wild animals, which are the main carriers of rabies, and significantly improve the epidemiological situation in the region.
The oral vaccines, which look like meat-bone pellets, contain capsules with rabies virus antigens.
These measures are not only safe for wild animals, but also for domestic animals and humans. Experts urge everyone who comes across such baits to refrain from contacting or moving them, in order to ensure successful vaccination of wild populations.
