Counterfeit Lego and ‘Honea’: Ukrainian customs stopped illegal importation

On the evening of July 7, Kyiv customs officers stopped an attempt to import over 7,200 children’s building sets marked with the «Lego» trademark and 140 children’s motorcycles with «Honda» branding from China. The goods showed signs of infringement of intellectual property rights on the «Lego» and «Honda» trademarks. The information was reported by the Kyiv Customs.

During customs inspection, it was noted that some of the goods contained illegal copies of the «Lego» and «Honda» marks, which are protected by intellectual property law. Representatives of the rights holders of the mentioned brands were informed about the infringement, as a result of which some of the toys were marked for destruction, while others were marked for repackaging and rebranding before being imported into Ukraine.

«This is an important step to ensure consumers’ rights to honest and lawful products,» emphasized the customs authorities.
