A deputy of the Berehiv City Council detained for illegal transportation of military conscripts
A deputy of the Berehiv City Council was detained in the Zakarpattia region on suspicion of illegal transportation of military conscripts to European Union countries, as reported by the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The name of the deputy is not disclosed, but according to Vitaliy Hlaholi, a deputy of the Uzhhorod City Council, it is about the representative of the party «European Solidarity» Viktor Saienkov.
The deputy was detained while receiving $14,000 for organizing the illegal crossing of individuals through the state border of Ukraine. A grenade and a rifle were found during searches at his home.
The suspect reportedly organized a scheme for the illegal crossing of the border for citizens of conscription age, providing instructions on their settlement in Berehiv and coordinating the crossing of the border for a set price of $7,000 per person.
Viktor Saienkov has been remanded in custody with the possibility of bail in the amount of 908,000 hryvnias. He has been informed of the suspicion under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a possible punishment of imprisonment for up to five years.
