Women Suspected of Drug Trafficking Remanded in Custody

Following the investigator’s and prosecutor’s request, the court decided to keep two women in custody who are suspected of illegal trafficking of psychotropic substances. Pretrial restrictive measures in the form of detention with the possibility of release on bail in the amount of 242,000 hryvnias were imposed on each of them.

Details of the Case

According to the investigation, a 44-year-old woman and her 24-year-old daughter organized the illegal sale of «amphetamine» in the territory of the Konotop district. The younger woman packaged the drugs in bags and delivered them to customers in her own car, while the older woman met buyers at home.

During a search of the younger woman’s car, law enforcement officers found approximately 5 grams of «amphetamine,» pocket scales, and at her place of residence — «cannabis» and devices for its use. A similar arsenal was also found in the mother’s possession, as well as recipes for making drugs and debt notes.

In addition, law enforcement authorities seized two minor children from the suspects, whom the women are raising independently.

Pre-trial investigation is being carried out by the investigators of the Konotop district police department of the National Police in the Sumy region.
