45-Year-Old Man Steals 79,000 Hryvnias From 79-Year-Old Woman
A 45-year-old previously convicted criminal stole 79,000 hryvnias from the house of a 79-year-old woman, which he spent on entertainment. The man faces up to 8 years in prison.
This was reported by the communication department of the Vinnytsia region police.
Information about the disappearance of a significant amount of money from the victim reached the police on June 12. During the investigative actions at the scene of the crime, the son of the victim fell under suspicion.
Last September, he was released after nearly eight years in prison for inflicting intentional grievous bodily harm. The man lived together with the victim and knew where she kept her savings.
The perpetrator confessed to his involvement in the crime. He was brought to the territorial police department for further investigation.
Law enforcement officers have initiated criminal proceedings under Article 185 Part 4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Theft), which could result in a punishment of up to 8 years of imprisonment. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
