Escalation of Conflict: Zaporizhia Region Under Russian Artillery Attack

Russian attacks on the Zaporizhzhia region

Attacks on the Zaporizhzhia region by Russian forces are intensifying, causing great concern as they approach the front line. The spokesman for the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration (RMA) Alexander Kovalenko reported this today, June 10, on the FREEДОМ TV channel.

Increasing Attacks

«The level of attacks is unfortunately on the rise. The majority of them are artillery shelling, with approximately 300 out of 523 shelling incidents in the past day caused by artillery. Drones and salvo fire systems are also being observed,» he noted.

No Casualties Reported

Kovalenko mentioned that no casualties were recorded in the Zaporizhzhia region in the past day due to enemy shelling.

Record Alert Activations

«Recently, a sad record was set: alarms in the Zaporizhzhia region have been activated over 4,000 times since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, with a total duration of about 160 days…,» emphasized Kovalenko.

Civilian Infrastructure Targeted

According to Kovalenko, the situation is further exacerbated by the region’s proximity to the front line. The regional center is located about 30-40 kilometers from the front line in the Zaporizhzhia direction, one of the most tense areas in military operations. The occupiers’ aim is mainly civilian infrastructure, with over 12,000 cases of damage or destruction of housing recorded, including multi-story and single-story residential buildings, as well as over 14,000 households,» summed up the spokesman of the Zaporizhzhia RMA.
