A New Series of Petitions for Renaming the Metro Station «Pushkinska»
A new series of petitions with proposals on how to rename the metro station «Pushkinska» has appeared on the website of the Kharkiv City Council. Kharkiv residents are showing extraordinary activity in this matter.
Various Proposals Being Considered
Four more petitions with proposals for renaming «Pushkinska» have been published in the «Petitions» section on the Kharkiv City Council website in just two days. Among the proposed options are: «Molodizhna», «Skovorodynivska», «Poezii», «Literaturna», and «Yuridichna».
Arguments for Different Names
«In my deep conviction, the name of the station should correspond to the type of object. The architecture of the station reflects the theme of poetry and art,» argues Mahmudzhan Jalalov, suggesting «Literaturna» or «Poezii».
Sergiy Serhiyev proposes naming the station «Yuridichna» in honor of the nearby Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University. A lively discussion has ensued between supporters of different universities.
Timofiy Beletsky suggests naming the station «Molodizhna» to reflect the area’s youthfulness and nearby park, emphasizing Kharkiv’s status as the youth capital of Ukraine.
Another petition argues that the station should be named after the street it is located on.
