Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko Shares Progress on New Pedestrian Bridge in Obolon
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko recently shared a video on social media showcasing the construction of a new pedestrian bridge in Obolon. The project, which is nearing completion, is part of the larger effort to transform Obolonsky Island into a recreational area for Kyiv residents.
The construction of the bridge and the landscaping of Obolonsky Island are in the final stages, thanks to the support of patrons, the Metropolis of Greater Paris, and assistance from Taiwan. Foreign partners have contributed financially to make this project a reality.
Once completed, the pedestrian bridge will connect Natalka Park, the embankment, and Obolonsky Island, providing residents with a new recreational space to enjoy. The island itself is being carefully landscaped to preserve its existing flora and fauna, with the addition of new trees, bushes, and blooming lawns.
Vitali Klitschko noted that the bridge structures were manufactured at the Azovstal plant before the conflict with Russia began. The original plan was to open the recreational area in 2022, but due to the ongoing war, the timeline was disrupted. Despite the challenges, progress continues to be made on this transformative project for the city of Kyiv.
