Laboratory for production of innovative medical bandages opens at Lviv Polytechnic

Opening of a Laboratory for Hydrogel Medical Bandages at Lviv Polytechnic University

On March 12, a laboratory specializing in the production of innovative hydrogel medical bandages was unveiled at Lviv Polytechnic University.

The new laboratory, overseen by Maxim Kozitsky, head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, is set to test various medical technologies in addition to the hydrogel bandages.

Last year, the university developed a technology for creating hydrogel bandages that offer pain relief, aid wound healing, and stop bleeding. These bandages are eco-friendly, decomposing after use as they are crafted from natural materials.

Despite facing challenges due to a lack of space and materials, the university successfully manufactured 230,000 medical bandages.

The Lviv Regional Military Administration provided 700,000 hryvnias to Lviv Polytechnic University, enabling the purchase of equipment and the establishment of a state-of-the-art laboratory for researchers. Thanks to generous donors, the premises were renovated, and raw materials were procured.

The administration is also supporting the certification process for bandage production.

While the innovative bandages are not yet available for purchase, military units can access them by contacting the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies at the National University «Lviv Polytechnic».

Future plans include expanding the production of medical products for both military and civilian use as needed.
