Poland demands coordination with NATO on shooting down Russian missiles over Ukraine

Vladyslav Kosinyak-Kamysh on Shooting Down Russian Missiles

Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Poland, Vladyslav Kosinyak-Kamysh, stated that Poland will not shoot down Russian missiles heading towards Western Ukraine without prior coordination with all NATO countries. He emphasized that such a consensus is currently lacking, considering the position of the White House, which does not want escalation of the conflict.

Kosinyak-Kamysh emphasized that any decision regarding shooting down missiles will only be made with the consensus of all NATO members. He also noted that in case the missiles fly over Polish territory, different procedures will be applied.

US State Department’s View

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller stated that the issue of shooting down Russian missiles directed towards Poland through Ukrainian territory may be addressed at the NATO summit. This underscores the importance of coordination among allies within the alliance.
