Poland introduces widows’ pensions: what does it mean for the population

The Polish government supports the introduction of widow’s pension

The Polish government has expressed its support for a bill that would give widows or widowers the right to a portion of their deceased spouse’s pension. Prime Minister Donald Tusk made the announcement during a meeting of the Council of Ministers, where it was decided that the entire government coalition would back the bill.

«We are all committed to working together in the Sejm and voting as a united government coalition in support of the bill. I hope that we can organize the legislative process within the coalition,» stated the Prime Minister.

The bill, which has already been introduced to the Sejm as a civic bill, is set for a second reading on Thursday.
