A supporter of the USSR and the Russian language spoke to future officers about information operations for the population. People’s Deputy from the «Servant of the People» party Maxim Buzhansky, who has repeatedly spoken out against the Ukrainian language, refused to honor the memory of the Heavenly Hundred, and made offensive statements about the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, was invited to give a lecture at the Military Institute of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University, where he talked about the «Modern stage of state-building in Ukraine.»
The event and the lecturer were initially reported by the institute’s press service on their Facebook page, but the post was later deleted.
However, journalist Marina Danyliuk-Yermolaeva posted screenshots and expressed outrage at the choice of such a speaker for the students. According to the screenshots of the event, Buzhansky’s meeting with students took place on June 4, and he spoke to future officers about the importance of critical thinking of the population, information operations, and world processes that will affect the future of Ukraine.
«It seemed like it couldn’t get any lower. But no.»
The Military Institute of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University posts about having a lecturer on the history of state-building who is none other than a pro-Russian, a lover of the Soviet Union, St. George’s ribbons, and May 9. What valuable insights can he provide on the history of Ukrainian statehood? What do they need a Soviet sympathizer for, to teach cadets born clearly after the Maidan and between the Revolution of Dignity? And most importantly, what were the organizers and teachers thinking?» Marina Danyliuk-Yermolaeva emphasized in her post.
She noted that there are plenty of good historians and military experts who could lecture on such topics, and that «Soviet enthusiasts have nothing to teach future officers.»
