Massive fire in Kharkiv residential building extinguished, 10 people evacuated
On April 1, an emergency situation occurred in Kharkiv: rescuers extinguished a massive fire in a nine-story residential building and evacuated 10 people. This was reported by the State Emergency Service.
At 12:03, a report of a fire in a building at 5-B Lysavetynska Street was received on the emergency number 101.
Upon arrival, rescuers found that the fire had engulfed a room on the sixth floor, and due to heavy smoke in the stairwells, there was a danger to the residents on the upper floors. They were promptly evacuated. The fire was successfully extinguished by 13:43.
Fire safety advice for residents of multi-story buildings:
1. Immediately call 101 or 112 and clearly state the address.
2. Leave the apartment and close the door behind you, without trying to save personal belongings.
3. Do not use the elevator, as it may stop and become dangerous.
4. In case of heavy smoke, move on your knees or in a semi-bent position, covering your mouth and nose with a wet cloth.
5. If the path to the stairwell is blocked by fire and smoke, stay in the apartment, go to the balcony or loggia, tightly close the doors and windows, and signal rescuers by waving a bright cloth.
6. Do not jump from a height, it is better to wait for the firefighters to arrive and use their help.
7. After evacuation, move to a safe distance from the building and do not obstruct the passage of fire trucks or the work of rescuers.
