Odessa City Council to Auction Small Premises on French Boulevard
Odessa city council plans to sell two small premises on French Boulevard with a total area of 47 square meters. An auction for the privatization of these objects is scheduled for April 24, reports the correspondent of «Dumskaya».
The premises are located at French Boulevard, 12-B. One of them has an area of 14 square meters, the other — 32 square meters. At first glance, this is a routine privatization of small property. But there are some alarming moments in this situation.
Our sources in the city hall hint that this deal may have elements of the so-called «toilet» scheme, known in Ukraine as one of the methods of alienating communal property. The scheme involves registering real estate as communal property, and then renting or selling it at a low price to private individuals, who can later buy the land under this property.
It should be noted that these garages, which were previously used as a warehouse for the Odessa housing and communal services «Fontansky», were already leased in December. However, the rental process took place through an auction, which raised questions due to lack of transparency: participant data were hidden, which is a violation. It is quite possible that the situation may repeat itself during the sale.
