The German publication Handelsblatt has gained access to confidential documents related to the gas pipeline «Nord Stream 2»
According to NBN, cited by Kreschatic, Berlin suspected Moscow of blackmail.
Media reported on a note of protest sent by the Federal Ministry of Economy of Germany in August 2021
The document stated that the Kremlin was trying to limit gas supplies to Europe in order to expedite the launch of Nord Stream 2 before the necessary certification by German authorities.
The Ministry warned of possible dramatic consequences of such actions by Russia, noting a slow filling of gas storage facilities
This information was also conveyed to the head of government.
