In Kyiv, «Storks» project aims to preserve white stork population
In Kyiv, as part of the «Storks» project aimed at preserving the population of white storks, plans are underway to install new nests on the supports of power lines. This was reported by DTEK Kyiv Electric Networks.
It is noted that since 2019, specialists have already installed protective structures on electrical supports.
Overall, there are 11 special platforms for storks installed on electrical supports in Kyiv. They allow ensuring the safety of birds from possible electric shock. Such work also protects the company’s customers from emergency power outages that can be caused by nests shifting onto the wires.
This year, it is planned to install 4 more nests.
DTEK Kyiv Electric Networks reported that recently storks have returned to the nests they had reinforced: currently, the birds have settled on 9 out of the 11 platforms installed earlier.
