The US Considers Allowing Contractors to Work in Ukraine
The administration of the US president is considering allowing American contractors to work in Ukraine to service and repair Western weaponry, CNN reports, citing US officials. The initiative is still under review, and President Biden has not yet approved it.
If the decision is made, the Pentagon will be able to enter into contracts with contractors to work directly in Ukraine. This will greatly facilitate the repair and maintenance of equipment that requires constant care, such as F-16 fighters.
Experts note that American contractors will gain invaluable experience working in real conflict conditions and will be able to improve their products, taking into account the specifics of the damages.
Previously, the US did not consider sending its military experts to Ukraine, and damaged weapons had to be sent for repairs to Poland, Romania, or other NATO countries, which took a lot of time.
An American military contractor based in Poland mentioned that shelling significantly complicates repairs on the frontline, emphasizing the importance of the new initiative.
