Tragedy Strikes at Mala Smilyanka Village: 13-Year-Old Girl Dies
A tragedy occurred at the village of Mala Smilyanka in the Cherkasy region, resulting in the death of a 13-year-old girl. According to the Cherkasy publication «18000», the girl suffered a neck injury when a boy, who also jumped into the water from a height, landed on her.
Investigation Underway
Preliminary information suggests that the young people were relaxing near a quarry and were jumping from a rock into the water. The girl, born in 2011, jumped into the water, followed by the boy. His landing caused the injury that led to the girl’s death.
Zoia Vovk, a representative of the National Police in the Cherkasy region, stated that law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident. The child’s body was retrieved from the water by rescuers from the State Emergency Service. Law enforcement officers are collecting all necessary data and interviewing witnesses.
Criminal Case Initiated
On her part, Yulia Norovkova, a representative of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Cherkasy region, mentioned that the girl’s body was found at a depth of 15 meters, seven meters from the shore. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 115 Part 2 Point 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional murder of a person under the age of 14) in connection with this incident.
